Our Newest Family Member

Meet Baylor Mackenzie Webb aka Beemer.  We really didn’t realize that we gave her initials that were BMW until someone pointed them out.  She’s out little peanut!

She looks so much like my son in some of her early pics.

Isn’t she beautiful?

Our Precious family!

It’s Spring Time!

I just love all the green leaves, grass, and the beautiful Tennessee flowers!  Bug just loves it too!  One of his favorite things to do is to go outside or to walk as he always says.  We were so excited to get a little tykes playset from a friend of mine who was selling it to make room for a wooden one!  We scored this little beauty for little bug and our little beemer on the way (this was not intentional but we just realized her initials are going to be BMW) a swing set to paly on!  Yay!  Bug’s favorite thing to do is swing.  He’ll let me push him in that baby swing for 30 minutes before he tells me he’s aw-da (all done).  He always looks so relaxed in there!  I wish I had someone to push me!

Doesn’t the swing set look amazing?

Looks like fun doesn’t it?  Bug’s enjoying it!  It’s fun to have something to do when we go outside instead of just play in the mulch.  Although he still does a lot of that too.  He always is trying to bring these huge rocks he finds into the house!  All boy!  Can’t beat getting out when you’ve been couped up inside for all those months!

Pup Pup Needs Surgery

My son is desperatly in love with his Pup Pup.  And unfortuantly every night before bedtime we need to do a nose check on pup pup to see if he needs his nose surgically removed so that Caden doesn’t bite it off and swallow it!  Caden is such a loving child for which I am emencely thankful for the only problem with this is a fierce love for Pup Pup in such a way that it’s like he’s making out with pup pups face all the time. One of his favorite things to do is bite and chew on Pup Pup’s nose, which smells gross I might add.  I don’t really sew much.  I’m not exactly sure what I’m going to do when Pup Pups’s nose finally does come off but I guess I will figure out something because surely Caden can’t live without him!  Here’s some edvidence…

Can you see where he needs surgery something bad?

Now that you’ve seen photo #1 check out Pup Pup’s sweet nose eaten face…

So there you have it folkes, my son eats his favorite stuffed animals face off.  Does any other parent have this problem?

Wet Oatmeal Kisses

One of these days you’ll explode
and shout to all the kids,
“Why don’t you just grow up
and act your own age?”

And they will.

Or, “You guys get outside
and find something to do —
without hurting each other!
And don’t slam the door!”

And they don’t.

You’ll straighten their bedrooms
until it’s all neat and tidy,
toys displayed on the shelf,
hangers in the closet,
animals caged. You’ll yell,
“Now I want it to stay this way!!”

And it will.

You will prepare a perfect dinner
with a salad that hasn’t had all
the olives picked out.
And a cake with no finger traces in
the icing.
And you’ll say,
“Now this is a meal for company.”

And you will eat it alone.

You’ll yell, “I want complete privacy
on the phone! No screaming, do you
hear me?”

And no one will answer.

No more plastic tablecloths stained.
No more dandelion bouquets.
No more iron-on patches.
No more wet, knotted shoelaces,
muddy boots or
Rubber bands for ponytails.

Imagine. A lipstick with a point.
No babysitters for New Year’s Eve,
washing clothes only once a week.
No PTA meetings or silly school plays
where your child is a tree.
No carpools, blaring stereos or forgotten
lunch money.

No more presents made of library paste
and toothpicks. No wet oatmeal kisses.
No more tooth fairy, giggles in the dark,
scraped knees to kiss or sticky fingers to
clean.

Only a voice asking, “Why don’t you grow up?”

And the silence echoes:

“I did.”

Heard this at my moms group a couple of weeks ago.  Loved it!

Nana came to visit and here’s what we did!

Nana came to visit last week (my mom), which was great since we hadn’t seen her since Christmas!  Bug just loves Nana.  It’s one of his new words.  Well, he has lots of new words.  His most favorite of all is apple.  He says that more than anything.  After that it’s pretty much a free for all.  He’s always been a chatterbox and we still can’t understand everything that he is saying but we are begining to understand much more of what he is saying.  He says everything from apple to truck, and Bob (you know the tomato from veggie tales) to bath.  I think he’s picking up a brand new word each and everyday.  I find that so crazy!  But it is so fun to see him grow up!  I feel like I am about ready to put a brick on his little head because it is happening way to fast but then again I guess that is what happens isn’t it.

Well, it was fun to have my mom around.  I know Caden really enjoyed it.  She got to babysit a couple of times since we had our Dave Ramsey class one night and our small group on another night.  We all went out to dinner one night…wait a second.  We almost went out to dinner.  We drove from Milan to Jackson which was about a 25 minute drive and by the time we decided on a place to eat bug had started choking and then he threw up all over himself.  Poor little guy.  So, we pulled over in the Walmart parking lot and my mom ran in to find some clean up things and got him a some pants and a shirt.  Meanwhile, me and Jonathan were out in the car and Caden was having a good old time.  He was jamming to the radio and standing in daddy’s lap acting like he was driving.  It didn’t seem too sick even though he had lost his whole lunch.  Maybe he got a little car sick.  Since then he isn’t feeling great and he’s even cutting a few more teeth I think.  Those darn teeth.  Does it ever stop?

I thought it was a little funny because the car seat was all puky and so we got him out of it and drove down to the door of Walmart with bug on my lap to let Nana out to run in.  I just know everyone was looking at me like I was Brittney Spears or something and driving around with my kid on my lap.  Well, I wasn’t about to put him back in a puky seat when we didn’t have anything to clean him up with when we were just driving down the lane in the parking lot.  I’m sure they wouldn’t of either.  Well, we finally cleaned him up and then went by chic-fil-a.  It was  a little far from home if we just went through the drive through so we went in to have a bite.  I still have a little puke on me and rolled up my sleeves.  Is glorious being a mom sometimes isn’t it?  Bug ate just fine and then we went back home with out any more episodes so I guess he was ok.

As far as the box on his head…well.  It’s funny how kids get into stuff and do funny things.  I don’t know why you wouldn’t want to have children.  They are just to entertaining!

Somebody Teach Me!

During the past three months as I have started clipping coupons, reading money saving blogs regularly like Money Saving Mom and Faithful Provisions, and reading books like Miserly Moms by Jonni McCoy, and trying to swipe a free bread maker by earning all the swagbucks I can and redeeming amazon gifts cards.  I am amazed at just how much I did not know about the money saving world.  I didn’t grow up in a home that strived to save money or really understood that it was really all God’s money.  Part of me is a little bit sad because as I spent five years in full time ministry and I was frequently in the presence of moms that were sometimes a decade or two older than me and I wanted to not only be discipled and learn from their godly wisdom I also wanted to learn about their earthly wisdom and no one taught me some of these things that we should all be teaching others as believers.  I mean how can we really get all we can out of our money?  How can we really make our homes peaceful places?  What are some great methods of discipline?  How can I honor the Lord as a wife and a mother?  I increasingly become so shocked at the things that I didn’t even realize were out there.  Life is a crazy journey isn’t it?

And to the credit of the moms I worked around.  Many of them were so busy that maybe they didn’t have time to teach me some of these things or simply thought they didn’t apply to me.  Some probably had never thought about such things themselves or at least a few of the things listed above.  Though it does seem like saving money is an art.  I am frequently amazed at all the ways that you can learn to do so.  That you can be at home with your kiddos have fun with them, teach, them and have a major hand in running the household as well.  Though it all takes a lot of work it can be done.  So like many others am all in this process of learning.  I’m learning myself, hoping some will teach me and yet praying for godly wisdom so I can continue to see the Lord add peace to our home and honor him in every aspect of it.
